Goodbye Helen, RIP

Sad news folks. Our friend and ECG stalwart, Helen, has passed away.  Thank you, Natalie, for finding out. Helen was very private, yet she was the lead coordinator in planning and organising our work meeting Level 3 patients going through Cardiac Rehab. Right now, we don't know anymore. Will keep you posted.

Yoga Change

From 4th September Yoga Classes will be taught by Amanda Lutchford who most members will know.

The class will still be held on Wednesdays but there is a new time - 5.45.

Please complete the form below and email it to

All Change, Here at ECG!

The bad news first. We are losing Barbara Sowa, our trainer and inspiration from the very start. She is moving on career-wise,  it's a well-deserved promotion.

Barbara leaves our group in fine shape, with a new crew of trainers, some of whom are already in place so the show, which Barbara created, goes on.

ECG Members Only Social

Come and see your allotment this evening at the Harvester end of Haslemere Ave? It's open to all of us.

No digging or planting - it's a social. BYOB.

AGM Update

This is a thank you to those able to attend the AGM on 17th. And an update for those who couldn't make it.

Special thanks to Barbara and Natalie for contributing so much.

And for those who have joined our team of volunteers - welcome!

The minutes will follow. Watch out for updates.

Any Other Business

Do you have any spare garden tools?

Have you got any garden tools to donate?

The Ealing Cardiac Group (ECG) was founded 5 years ago by volunteers when the NHS withdrew funding to provide supervised exercise classes for those in the area who had had heart interventions.

The classes have proved successful in maintaining members fitness and wellbeing and membership has since increased fivefold. ECG recently acquired half of an allotment on the Haslemere site to extend the opportunities for heart patients to improve their wellbeing especially those who cannot necessarily participate in an exercise programme.

ECG now needs basic garden tools and would welcome any of the following donations: Spade/shovel, garden fork, hand trowel/fork, secateurs, branch saw, garden sieve, miniature pickaxe (mattock), hoe, rake, watering cans, canes or anything else that experienced gardeners feel we may need.

Fundraiser and Social Meal

Every time we add a class, ECG makes a loss until the numbers build up and up to now that's worked out for us.

We do now need to top up our modest coffers to offset costs incurred because of the additional Monday class so that's what the 29th is about.

The £15 for the meal includes £5 for ECG - thanks to the generosity of IndiaIndia.

The last meal there was well received. That wasn't a fundraiser and the cost to each of us is the same as the last one,

There are veggie and non veggie set meals and there should be more than enough food!

Because this is a BYOB place, we can bring alcoholic drinks in - but not soft drinks or bottled water.

The meal is at 8pm.

You can bring a guest. They're most welcome.

We are a non-profit voluntary organisation. Just in case you didn't know!

We are most grateful for Barbara's  commitment and professionalism and welcome Natalie as an additional trainer.

One last thing:  AGM on 27th May.
